The GMIRT-EVAL-CF evaluation kit is a complete development system for quickly developing an embedded design with the MCF548x and MCF547x processor families. The kit is comprised of software development tools and a system-on-module, called a Fire Engine.

The software tools are:

·         INTEGRITY real-time operating system (RTOS)

·         velOSity microkernel

·         MULTI integrated development environment, including performance profiler, editor, run-time memory checking, editor

·         Instruction set simulator

·         Advanced debugger

·         Optimizing C/C++ compilers, assembler, linker and tool chain 

The Fire Engine hardware module, along with the included ethernet ports, PCI slots, CAN interfaces, serial interfaces, and the best-in-class ColdFire debug module generates a complete hardware package to enable quick design support for the MCF5485, MCF5484, MCF5483, MCF5482, MCF5481, or MCF5480 processors.

Fire Engines

The M5474LITE Linux development kit contains a module, called a Fire Engine, which can be purchased from motorola in production volumes.  The MCF5474 Fire Engine is a complete system on module (in SOM-ETX format) offering essential features for industrial and embedded networking applications.  The use of the Mini-ITX baseboard included in the M5474LITE, or a custom peripheral board generated by the customer makes the Fire Engine the ideal foundation for developing embedded computing products. The Fire Engine provides a common reference pin-out on its expansion connectors, which enables customers to easily scale to next generation microprocessor Fire Engines when new functionality or performance is required.

motorola also offers ready-to-use LCD Display Kits from LogicPD for the M5485EVBGHS which include bezel, inverter, touch panel, and cables.  These optional LCD Display kits are designed to work directly with M5485EVBGHS and can be purchased through motorola using the part numbers below.
